A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings

Question one asks why the "angel's" appearance is so unsettling. I remember I told you guys a story about the nightmare I had about the Easter Bunny. He was so huge he was bent over at the waist to fit inside the house, and his fur was matted with dirt and motor oil. The manner in which he "marched" from room to room in my house, all slumped over, was truly nightmarish. If you've ever played "Doom," the bunny was like the monster that chases you all over and appears instantly in doorways.
The "angel" has that same quality. He's basically toothless, with only a "a few faded hairs on his bald skull." Instead of standing regally upright, he's stooped in the yard, not saying anything. The fact that he can't communicate adds to his sinister quality. Imagine if you had died and gone to the "Pearly Gates" but when you got there, an angel was guarding the gates. Imagine, too, that when you spoke to him, he answered in a gibberish that you could not understand. Imagine exactly how "excluded" or "damned" that would make you feel. Here you are, at the gates of heaven, and you can't communicate with the angel whose job it is to let you in or keep you out. Now THAT's damned!

The angel does have the same quality as the bunny in your dream.
To me it's like a big pile of wet newspapers. You really don't want to deal with it and just go around it.
It's like the crazy man in the subway that smells like old cabbage and talks to himself. It's not a pretty sight but for some reason you NEED to look at him. Because it's different but you still resent that person or thing. Same with the "angel"
People want to see it but after they're like "wow that thing is weird. Did you see it's wings? they were gross"
It's unsettling because well, to be brief, you wouldn't want to pet the angel.

At face value, why the hell wouldn't an old man with enormous wings be unsettling? If taken from a post-modern view, it's a very disturbing notion indeed. There's many ways to take this in, but here's what it means to me:

Take the title in a metaphoric way: An elderly man who carries his mistakes on him and they weigh him down, when he should really use them to better himself and "soar freely". With the notion that this old man lets his mistakes eat at him, we can now introduce the public. The public sees this as a great opportunity to get a foreshadow on what not to do and what to do in life, they see him as a prophet, they see salvation, they see an angel. Of course when asked different questions, the public finds that communication is out of the question. Ergo the community finds him dull and leaves him be. For why waste our times on a trainwreck that shows no sign in rehabilitation? The old man then goes on to live with mistakes, grows new wings, and sores to a new day.

As for the bunny......well shit we've all had our share of scary nightmares. But as in analysis of literature, dreams appertain to our own individual experiences or thoughts. Or not, it's said we only consciously use 10% of our brain.

But if I had a go at your "nightmare", I'd say you were afraid of tradition/stability and the things people wanted you to be, and it hunted you down.

I hope this brings up my C....damn....

In life people see things as black and white and see things either good or bad, but this is not the case in this story, man has a picture of an angel man has put the angel on the pedistule of greatness of intrepidness. The people in this story see a different side to this grandeur an alternative side, a side of grotesqueness, and the people react in a way of mockery towards the man and the man seperated from all natural human instincts, you see the indifference when they cannot communicate with the angel, but you see the humaness in the angel when the priest looks at him.
The people see him and are curious bbut are also segregated from him they have already blacklisted him and for that they throw food at him iferring that he is an animal and not to be taken in any way equal.
Man cannot accept what the man is whether that be a majestic being or human and for that they see him as indifferent, as inferior as, as unequal.
And as for ur dream Maxwell just take some warm milk before you go to sleep and that should do the trick do not take the dream as something of insuficiency you are as good as you want to be.

Whoa, Mazwell.

I had a dream/nightmare in 8th grade. Nazi cows, yeah. They were taking over the school and it was weird, but scary at the same time.

Hahaha, Roman. The crazy man in the subway that smells like old cabbage and talks to himself ...

Hahaha. That is something that does not sound flattering.

If this would be the case I believe that God would provide me a way to understand what he is saying. i would do a sort of interpretive dance or charades in order show him thata reason why I should be accepted in.
